Draft Chapter: County in Motion

Over the last several months, the HoCo By Design project team has released draft planning theme chapters one at a time for community review and feedback.

The fifth planning theme chapter is County in Motion: Fostering Modern Mobility Choices.

The policies presented in each chapter are draft statements based on data, best practices, and community feedback received to date. The project team is seeking feedback from the community to further refine draft policies.

The County in Motion chapter highlights the need to manage and provide a safe, equitable, and fiscally sustainable transportation system for all users that is responsive to changing local, regional, and national transportation trends, including identifying policies and actions to guide County transportation activities and programs.

For additional reference, the following materials provide context and linkages between the draft County in Motion chapter and other elements of the draft Plan:

  • The draft Introduction Chapter describes how HoCo By Design builds upon the County’s current General Plan and sets a broad vision for the next 20 years, including a central focus on advancing equity throughout the Plan.
  • The draft Character Areas & Future Land Use Map (FLUM) generally depicts intended land use for areas throughout the County and describes each Character Area’s unique and discernable purpose, design, and feel.
  • The Transportation Assessment, one of seven assessments completed for HoCo By Design in 2020, provides an assessment of the County’s transportation system.
