Over the coming year, the goal of the HoCo By Design project team is to release draft planning theme chapters one at a time for community review and feedback.
The third planning theme chapter is Life Outdoors: Protecting & Preserving Our Natural Resources.
The policies presented in each chapter are draft statements based on data, best practices, and community feedback received to date. In June, the project team sought feedback from the community--at public meetings and through the Life Outdoors Comment Form--to further refine draft policies.
The Life Outdoors chapter recognizes the distinct appreciation Howard County and its residents have for protecting the environment, including natural areas and farmlands. It also identifies opportunities to deepen Howard County’s commitment to environmental stewardship, create better compatibility between the natural and built environments, and provide needed measures for climate change mitigation and adaptation.
